Ming-Na Wen Serves Up Her Family Restaurant's Recipes
Have You Eaten Yet? pairs family recipes with stories from the Pittsburgh Chinese restaurant Ming-Na Wen's parents ran, and it's out now in the US and UK.

Ming-Na Wen grew up around her parents' restaurant, the Chinatown Inn in Pittsburgh, and her cookbook Have You Eaten Yet? Family Recipes from a Restaurant Daughter goes back there. Simon Element, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, published it in the US on 6 October, and the UK publisher page gives 8 October.
The recipes are split into chapters. Restaurant Classics covers egg rolls, wonton soup and shrimp fried rice. Feasts from Chef Baba collects her father's dishes, including prime rib and winter melon soup. Straight from Ming-Na's Kitchen has shrimp with garlic noodles and dragon fruit cheesecake cups. There's also advice on cooking rice, a guide to condiments and restaurant tips on sauces, broths and dry spices, plus family photos the publisher says haven't been seen before.
Wen was born in Macau, lived in Hong Kong and moved to the United States at six. Simon & Schuster lists the roles most readers will know her from: The Joy Luck Club, Dr Chen on ER, the voice of Mulan, Agent May in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Fennec Shand in the Star Wars shows. The publisher also says the Chinatown Inn is now a historic landmark and the only business left from the city's original Chinatown.
The book runs to 256 pages in hardback, with a list price of $35 in the US and £25 in the UK, and there's an ebook too.
Jackie Chan is among the friends quoted on the publisher's page, saying the recipes will make a lot of people happy, and full.
