US release Tue 3 Nov, UK Mon 9 Nov
Criterion has added KPop Demon Hunters to the Collection as spine #1333, and the extras are the reason to look twice if you already stream it.
The US release is Tuesday 3 November. In the UK, Spirit Entertainment is distributing Criterion's edition on Monday 9 November on DVD, Blu-ray and dual-format 4K UHD, according to disc-news site DVD365. The two-disc Blu-ray is listed at £24.99 at Zavvi and Amazon UK.
Criterion's page lists a new 4K master approved by directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack. The main edition is a 4K UHD disc in Dolby Vision HDR plus two Blu-rays. Polygon reports US pre-order prices of $39.96 for that set, $31.96 for the two-disc Blu-ray and $23.96 for the DVD.
Kang and Appelhans introduce a full feature-length animatic of the film. There is also a new making-of documentary, two video essays by filmmakers Taylor Ramos and Tony Zhou (Every Frame a Painting), lyric videos, the trailer, English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, and English descriptive audio. Critic Karen Han contributes an essay, and Ami Thompson drew the new cover.
UPI notes the film won two Oscars, Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for "Golden". The 4K and Blu-ray editions include collectible postcards showing original illustrations by artists who worked on the film.
The postcards are the one extra you can pin to a wall.
